October 24, 2017 – SAR Volunteers Needed

Mushkegowuk Council’s Office of the Grand Chief is calling on “Community Search & Rescue Volunteers” from our Mushkegowuk First Nations to step forward to offer your assistance with the Search and Rescue/Recovery Operations in Waskaganish.

It is our hope to deploy a team or two from each of our communities to assist with the search operations. We prefer community members with experience working in stressful environments and are prepared to stay on site for an extended period of time. Help is needed in the following areas; aerial spotters, canoe/dragging operations, ground searchers, and food preparations.

Community members prepared to help with the Waskaganish Search Operations are asked to contact the following or your Community SAR Coordinator.

Leonard Kapashesit, Emergency Measures Coordinator:
Office: 705 658 4222 Cell: 705 336-8420

Doug Cheechoo, Special Projects Officer:
Office: 705 658 4222 Cell: 705 363 8356

PLEASE NOTE: Moose Factory SAR is recruiting and coordinating Volunteers from Moose Factory and we encourage this arrangement to continue. Community members from Moose Factory wanting to volunteer are required to contact the MFSAR Coordination Team.
