Learning from the Land during the 26th annual

kishay pisim mamawihitowin The Great Moon Gathering 2017

February 16 and 17, Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology – Timmins Campus.

GMG2017 will provide dialogue, knowledge and insights, resources, and opportunities for educators to share and learn traditional education, language, values, and strategies that support our students’ engagement and success.

We are pleased to announce Sharon H. Venn (Notokwew Muskwa Manitokan) as our guest speaker, and we are proud that renowned speaker and facilitator Stan Wesley will be returning as our emcee.

We are seeking dynamic and innovative proposals that provide early childhood to higher education educators the opportunities to learn, participate, and extend cultural activities into their professional practice.

We invite proposals that highlight the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action, land-based education, decolonization of education, resurgence and revitalization of Indigenous cultures, languages, philosophies and educational practices, and ecological knowledges, and that honour the lives and experiences of the Ininiwuk learning from the land.

We invite proposals that share and practice traditional technologies, skills, crafts, and music to engage and inspire connections to knowledges, languages, and social relations that arise from the land.

As an Elder, Knowledge Holder, Leader, Administrator, Teacher, Practitioner, Researcher, Learner, and Scholar, come share ideas, projects, research and practices, advance professional development, receive feedback and gain new perspectives, and meet and reconnect with colleagues and family during kishay pisim mamawihitowin – The Great Moon Gathering 2017.
